Complex queries

Nearly every list inside Flying Fleet has its own search field. The field can be used to quickly search among common fields or have specially crafted queries to refine the results.

Let's take for example the member admin list (we can use the demo instance here: https://demo.flying-fleet.com/)) If we start to type in the search field an auto-complete list will appear offering the possible fields to search, then the operator which can be used, and a value must be provided. For example, we can type in: "age > 100" without the double quotes.

This will result in displaying the list of all members which are older than 100 years old.

It is possible to concatenate multiple conditions together using the "and" or "or" operators like "age > 100 and name contains ber". Parenthesis can be used to change the normal order of operation (which is by default from left to right).

Queries, filters and sorting are all passed via the URL, which means you can either bookmark or pass the URL to another colleague and the person (if he/she has the rights to do so) can then view exactly the same results as you are.

In case the query is invalid, the system will then use it as a simple text to search in most of the fields, however no error message will be displayed. In case a field shall be added to the list of fields to search for a feature request can be made and we shall prioritise the work. The development time/effort for it is usually very small.
