What is Flying Fleet?
Consider Flying Fleet as the operating system for your airport. This means a unified software solution, modules rich, engineered to streamline and cover the vast majority of your operational requirements as an airport, club, or flight school.
Do you have help or documentation?
We offer online help included within the product both for your end users and for the staff, yet for more advanced administration tasks we have a separated documentation in the form of a GitHub WIKI.
Can Flying Fleet handle charter operations?
Flying Fleet features a reservation module that enables pilots, instructors, and maintenance personnel to book aircraft and subsequently bill usage, such as flight time. As most user interefaces offered by the software, the calendar can be fully be operated using any modern mobile device like a smartphone, while offering advanced features like recuring reservations, outlook / google / apple calendar integration, and drag / drop operations.
How is Flying Fleet handling the instruction billing?
Flying Fleet can either bill per instruction time, or linked to the flight time. Administrators can define all the articles and when and how to bill them.
Is there a limit of articles, flight types or any other?
There is no hard limit of any type within Flying Fleet. Administrators can define as many reservation types, instruction types, flight types and basically everything without worrying to reach the limit of the system and requiring to find work arounds.
How much time will it take to setup a functioning instance?
We are able to create a new instance in less than one hour as well as give you quickly access to it. With this new installation, you will receive either a clean and nearly empty system, or one with a functional (but standard) installation, or we can migrate and setup for you your instance, such that you will be quickly up and running with nearly no efforts from your side.
Can we test Flying Fleet?
Besides the demo available with some filler data, we can quickly offer a personal test system with some standard setup. Contact us and we shall dicuss how to proceed.
How big is the development team?
Flying Fleet is developed mainly by Redcrest Solutions, however we are working in partner with the Swiss software company Collumino. If for some reasons Redcrest must stop operating, Collumino will be able to offer long term support for the software and services.
Can we have a new functionality implemented in Flying Fleet?
All software has limitations. While our current offering includes many modules and features, if you have specialized needs not yet covered, we're here to help. After discussing your requirements, if we see broad potential, we'll add the feature to our roadmap. Otherwise, for highly specific needs, we'll connect you with our software partner, Collumino, for custom solutions.
Where is hosted our instance?
Each instance of Flying Fleet is installed on a separated virtual server hosted in Europa (usually in Germany). This will be your own VPS never shared with any other customer, ensuring the privacy of your data as well as your performances.
Can we have access to the database?
We offer a read-only access for the super administrators, as well as a daily backup of your database. You may copy the SQL.GZ file on your own machine, and restore it on your own database.
How is working the database backup?
We perform daily SQL database dumps, compressed with GZip. These daily backups should be duplicated on a separate server for redundancy. Additionally, our hourly system creates a full binary backup at midnight, followed by hourly incremental backups. This allows us to restore data from any given hour of the current day or from the past 10 days.
How fast is Flying Fleet?
We deliver exceptionally performant results by utilizing high-quality solutions and optimized code. Web pages typically render and transmit in under a tenth of a second, while even in-depth analytical reports are returned within a few seconds.
Can we monitor how our own VPS is performing?
Super administrators have access to all the tools to check the VPS performance, CPU, RAM and disk usage directly from the web interface.
Is there a documentation of the database?
Super administrators have access to a visual diagram of the database model, with all the foreign keys and fields presented.
How much space do we have at our disposal in our own instance?
We set up your VPS instance with 80GB of disk space. After the operating system and necessary software are installed, approximately 55GB remains available for your database and documents. Please note that our standard setup includes a test instance, which effectively doubles your data usage. If the default VPS isn't sufficient, contact us for an upgrade (additional costs may apply).
Can we read the data from Excel or Power BI?
Yes, all the data is available as read access to administrators via the REST API and can be accessed from Excel and many other tools.
How can we change all the prices easily?
Most of the administration interface offer import/export tools, to let you quickly and easily first export the data to an Excel compatible tool, let you edit it there, and then paste the new data into Flying Fleet. Importing article prices like that takes only a couple of seconds even for 1000 or more articles.
Is the weather information coming from an official source?
The weather module (besides the quick weather info in the home page and in the calendar) is offered in partneship with "Deutscher Wetterdienst", "Meteoswiss", "Astrocontrol" and other official source.
At our airport we have this workflow, is Flying Fleet offering it?
We are confident that Flying Fleet offers most if not all the workflows for EASA airports. Simply contact us and we shall discuss your needs.
We discovered a bug, how long will it take to fix it?
Once reported (and reproduced by us) bugs are fixed in a very short time. Usually less than 1 week.
We don't like the texts / labels used, can you change them?
Every customer can fully customize the texts as Flying Fleet contains an administration tool just for that.
Once in production, how can we check new settings or train our staff?
We usually offer a test system for each productive system installed. The test system will be installed on the same VPS as the productive one, but will use a different database. Every night a copy of the productive database will be imported in the test system and therefore allow you to test new articles or settings or train your staff with your own data on a system which will not prevent your daily business.
We always had issues with I.T. systems, why would Flying Fleet be different?
We are not only professional software developer since many decades, but we are also pilots and flight instructors. We therefore know very well what are the needs of such software and how to develop it. Ask for a test instance, we shall go through it with you, and you will decide afterward if our promises are true or not (and yes they are).
The price seems too good to be true, how can it be?
We believe in our solution and we want to work with many airports, therefore the costs to maintain such solution is not paid by one or just a few customers.
Our club doesn't have much money, we will certainly not be able to pay for Flying Fleet.

Can you offer online payment for our guests?
Yes, Flying Fleet offers AeroPS integration as well as many other online payment via our partner Mollie.
We don't speak English that well, can we have the support in another language?
Our staff is currently fluent in English, German, French and Italian.
Can we have the interface in our own language?
We can provide you an Excel with an automated translation, if you correct it we will be happy to add it to Flying Fleet. However, please note that any new texts will be added through automated translation and may require some fixing later on.

In our country X we have some legal requirements, are you compliant?
Contact us and we shall check it together, but be assured that either we are already compliant or we can quickly be.
Is our data safe?
We perform daily local backups of your data. To significantly boost your data's security, we highly recommend an additional backup copy stored on one of our own servers. This critical extra step means that in the unlikely event of a total data loss, you would only lose a maximum of one day's data. Restoring your instance completely takes less than half a day.
Are the server safe against hackers?
While absolute safety is unattainable, we mitigate risks through comprehensive precautions, including automated daily system updates, daily backups, and restricted access for a limited number of personnel.
Which OS is used to run the system?
We utilize tested and regularly updated Linux server distributions to ensure low costs, high availability, and optimal performance.
Which technology is used for the development?
Developed with .NET Core (usually the latest LTS release), a leading industry standard for enterprise solutions, our software is powered by a MariaDB database. Frequent security, quality, and performance reviews guarantee the highest level of service.
Can we have access to the code? Is the code open source?
We maintain proprietary control over our code. Nevertheless, Collumino, our trusted partner, has full access and is able to seamlessly take over development in the unlikely event Redcrest Solutions cease operations.
How many airports / clubs already use Flying Fleet?
Conceived and developed in conjunction with LSZF (Birrfeld), Flying Fleet has subsequently earned the confidence of a growing number of airports. However, we maintain a policy of not publishing the full list of our customers.
I love your product, but we just choose another solution what can I do?
Contact us, we can create for you a personal test instance, in case with your own data and discuss how we can finacially cover you some of the costs till the migration is complete.
At our airport we use the solution X to do Y, can we integrate it with Flying Fleet?
Flying Fleet provides an open and fully documented API that can be quickly enhanced if any functionality is missing. While we don't offer custom development, our partner Collumino can handle your specific integration needs.
What kind of reports do you offer?
Flying Fleet currently offers over 40 diverse reports, covering everything from runway usage to correlated weather and flight times. All reports run on your latest data, and you can preview our wide variety on our demo instance. Any additional reports requirement can be discussed.
Which modules already exists in Flying Fleet?

How frequently do you update your software?
We try to offer a continuous cycle of improvements, which may or may not be beneficial for your workflows. All the changes are then visible in the commit log which visible from the system menu. As soon as we tested the changes, we deploy (off peak unless for critical bugs) to all the instance the new release.
Usually software never get the features requested by the customers, will it be different with you?
We collaborate closely with each customer, discussing every request to either integrate it into our roadmap or propose an alternative solution. We are committed to implementing necessary changes and believe in responsive software development.
Can I analyze my data in Flying Fleet?
Yes, you can analyze your Flying Fleet data comprehensively. Flying Fleet goes beyond basic Excel exports by offering a robust reporting and analysis module. This module allows you to visualize nearly all available data, providing a clear overview of your business processes. All analyses are presented graphically for easy understanding and insightful results.
Is Flying Fleet suitable for clubs? We are a smaller flying group with just a few aircraft. Is Flying Fleet a good solution for us?
Yes, absolutely. For flying groups and private owners, the reservation system, member management, and automatic invoicing features are particularly beneficial. The member management is comprehensive, and you can easily distribute news and messages to all members or specific groups. And of course, it all comes at a fair price.
Can I sync the entries in the reservation system with my own calendar?
Yes, you can do that easily. The link is located right under the calendar and can be transferred without any hassle.
What Makes Flying Fleet's Reservation System Special? There are many aircraft reservation systems out there, so what sets Flying Fleet's apart?
Flying Fleet's reservation system is highly intuitive to use. You can easily create and move reservations using drag-and-drop with your mouse or touch gestures. It also provides a clear view of which aircraft are currently in use. After a flight is completed, the system even shows how much flight time was accumulated during the reserved period.
